We’re so pleased to announce that X Factor finalist Melanie Masson will be appear in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage this Christmas and New Year.
Melanie is known to many for her rendition of Janis Joplin’s Cry Baby for her initial X Factor audition – the video has received over 6 million views of YouTube to date. Melanie wowed all 4 judges, receiving a standing ovation from them and the audience. She went through to the live finals, mentored by Gary Barlow, performing With a Little Help from My Friends and Never Tear Us Apart.
As well as the X Factor, she has performed in West End and UK musical tours in a number of roles – LV (Little Voice – UK tour), Delores (Peggy Sue got Married – West End), Mary Lou (Jailhouse Rock – West End), Mrs Keyes/Julie (The Infidel – Theatre Royal, Stratford East – David Baddiel).
Melanie has toured the UK with her own show as well as recording and touring with many artists including Pink, The Stereophonics, Kasabian, Norman Cook, Shaun Ryder, Russell Watson, Mark Owen, The Prodigy, Leo Sayer, David Essex, Sheena Easton, The Sugababes, All Saints, Mike Batt, Don Black, Midge Ure, Wet Wet Wet, Larry Adler and Altered Images.
Melanie is no stranger to panto, having played both goodies and baddies but this year she will be helping our hero Jack scamper up the beanstalk as she plays the role of Fairy Fuschia. She joins Cliff Parisi (EastEnders, Call the Midwife) as Fleshcreep and Stevenage’s favourite dame Paul Laidlaw as Dame Trott plus Aidan O’Neill is back by popular demand as Simple Simon.
