Hot on the heels of announcing that Only Fools & Horses’ Sue Holderness (AKA Marlene) will be appearing in Beauty and the Beast this Christmas, Watersmeet, we can now announce Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Kieran Sutcliffe and Sarah Jameson will also join the cast.
Kieran and Sarah are best known for their appearances on the ITV primetime entertainment show, Britain’s Got Talent. They sang Love Changes Everything in their first audition, receiving 4 yeses and booked their place in the semi-finals. They blew audiences away with their performance of Barcelona and even Simon had something positive to say! Unfortunately, they missed out on a place in the final to Bars and Melody who went on to be runners up to winner’s Collabro.
Despite this, the pair haven’t stopped working since BGT. Both are trained in musical theatre and perform as an opera and classical crossover duo all over the world. They have also firmly established themselves in pantoland over recent years, but Beauty and the Beast is a first for them.
As well as working together, they enjoy the chance to work on solo projects. Kieran’s other credits include lead tenor in The Opera Boys (European tour and Egypt), Cruella in Cinders, The New Musical (UK tour) Beadle Bamford and cover Sweeney in Sweeney Todd (Curve Theatre), Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (Campanille Tower Open Air Theatre) and Marcos in The Gondoliers of Venice.
Sarah’s recent performance credits include Fairette in Cinders, The New Musical (UK tour), Madame Renault in La Cage Aux Folles (Loughborough Town Hall), Principal Vocalist in Divas Live (European tour) and Bloody Mary in South Pacific (Avondale theatre, London)
They are both very excited about panto this year:
“We are absolutely thrilled to be performing in Beauty and the Beast this Christmas. The story has always been one of our favourites and with the blockbuster film coming out recently too, it makes 2017 a very exciting year. Christmas and pantomime has always been our favourite time of year, and we can’t wait to be involved in such a wonderful production. See you at Christmas everyone.”
Kieran plays the fabulous Dame Dorothea Derriere, he said, “I can’t wait to put my frock back on and flirt with the dads” and Sarah “… can’t wait to help Beauty along her way, with a bit of fairy magic” as the franglais-speaking Fairy Formidable! They will do their best to help our heroine, Beauty, out of hot water and defeat the wicked Malevolent in her plot to wreak havoc on the handsome prince and all those around her.
Bigger, better and beastlier than any panto seen in Rickmansworth, Beauty and the Beast will not disappoint with live music, wonderful sets, beautiful costumes and rip-roaring adventure in true panto style!
Beauty and the Beast is at Watersmeet, Rickmansworth from Thursday 7 December until Sunday 31 December 2017.
